Holidays are the best times ever and Christmas sure takes the lead! There’s just so much joy, laughter, sharing and beauty to lift your spirit even when you fall into the trap of evaluating how shitty, or not-so-shitty the year has been!
If all through the year you spent a good chunk of your time being a social junkie growing your social and professional network, Christmas is the sacred time reserved for family and close friends. Sure you’ll have lots of events lined up, but you’ll also be marking your attendance in gatherings and parties that matter the most.
On the average, you might be looking at; office Christmas parties, parties for professional groups you belong to, your kids’ school Christmas party, intimate Christmas dinners, family dinners, and not forgetting themed parties. The list goes on and on and on and on and on and on…
So what are the wardrobe essentials you should have to show up in at these events looking good and feeling great?
Here are some of Soyez Fleek’s wardrobe essentials for the holiday season. These are items that you might already have in your wardrobe…or maybe not…. So get inspired to try them in different ways or acquire them!
Plaid. Check.
Whether you call it a plaid or check shirt, just check it! Dating back to the Scottish Highlands, plaids have been around for a long time. Plaids come in different colors, patterns, fabrics and styles; adding a lot of color and fun to your outfit. Because it’s Christmas, it’s cold so you might consider going for a flannel plaid shirt. Plaid is the pattern and flannel is the fabric; usually warm and cozy! If you work in a formal dressed office, the office Christmas is a great time to sport a different, fun but yet professional outfit.

Su.it Up
Some office Christmas parties are black-tie events even if the every day dress code at work is casual and laidback. You won’t need to go all out in a tuxedo but a simple two piece navy suit will work the magic (there’s nothing more discouraging to event planners to have their guests show up not respecting the dress code). You can also play around with these two pieces; swapping the blazer with a casual jacket or the trousers with a well-fitting pair of chinos or jeans.

Turtlenecks
Who needs to stick their necks out there when it can be so comfortably snuggled? There’s a certain type of sophistication that turtlenecks add to an outfit, not forgetting that they are a great inner layer item that can be dressed up or down. Considering that most holiday parties will be indoors, opt for turtlenecks in thinner fabrics such as wool or cashmere (for a fancier option). With this, you keep warm, you’re stylish and you’re not looking like you’re headed off to your first space trip.

Slay-down Topcoat
Your top coat gives away 50 per cent of your entire outfit. It’s probably the first item on your outfit that others will see before the rest. For the fancy office Christmas dinner or your big social “holi-date” (borrowed) night out, rock a tailored slim-fitting topcoat. For colors, keep it neutral.
Read how to pair these outfits with your favorite pair of white sneakers or loafers.

Fantastic blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers?
I’m hoping to start my own website soon but I’m a
little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with
a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are
so many options out there that I’m completely confused ..
Any suggestions? Cheers!

Hello!
Thank you for your comment, and my apologies for the “timely” response 🙂
I did go with a paid option but you could start up with a free version until you get your head around. Blogging requires commitment in terms of time and effort, so be ready to give it your best. And good luck!
